The Ellis County Historical Society Museum follows the colorful history of the region from its origins in the Wild West to the massive impact of the Second World War. A number of buildings are used for exhibit space at the society's site, including the 1879 Stone Chapel, employed as a temporary exhibit space, and the Volga German Haus, a replica limestone home that follows the story of the region's main immigrant population, the Volga Germans. The museum is located north of Treat Park, near Fort Hays State University.
